OSXFitness is proud to introduce you to Aaron Schultz. Aaron is a amateur bodybuilder and has been competing for a only 1 year. Aaron has already taken home a first place trophy at the Keystone State Classic Bodybuilding Championship in June of 2007. This 21 year old has done what many only dream of in a very short time. Stepping on stage and winning. We met Aaron through our MySpace page and he has become one of our biggest supporters. So sit back and relax as we introduce you to Aaron Schultz. Easy Ladies....... TBM: Aaron, Thanks for taking the time to talk with us at OSXFitness.com Aaron: Thank You for Having me.
Aaron: My name is Aaron Schultz. I'm 21 years old from Shrewsbury, PA.
Aaron: Competitively, this is my first year. I really enjoy it. I've always been into working out and getting big. I guess it all started back in high school for football and just never got old.
TBM:You just won the Junior Men's Division at the Keystone State Classic Bodybuilding Championships in June. What was that like? Aaron: I was the first call-out and the judges moved me to the center, that was a great feeling. Then when it was time to hand out awards it was down to first and second. The kid that was with me back stage waiting for the call said to me this is where you don't want to hear your name, He took 2nd. When they said Aaron Schultz for first place it was an amazing feeling. TBM: How long did it take you to prepare for the contest? Aaron: I was a little late in my prep for this contest. But I used 10 weeks to get ready. A lot of people like to be ready 2 weeks out from the show. Since I started late I needed the full 10weeks. For anyone looking for advice, start early enough so you’re not over training your final week.
TBM: By winning you qualified for the NABBA American Bodybuilding Championship on Oct. 6, 2007. How are you going to prepare for that contest? Aaron: I will be preparing pretty much the same as I did for the Keystone. I learned so much in my first show which I will use to help me prepare for this show. Hopefully it all goes as planned and I’ll have a nice trophy to bring home. But the thing about this sport is you never know who might show up. King Kong might be in the house that day. That's what fun about the sport.
TBM: Are you going to do anything different that you did at the Keystone Classic? Aaron: I don't think there will be too many changes. My training partner Tim Salla will be competing in his first show soon as well so are workouts been intense. The only change I can see that will be made is I’ll be heavier. My legs will be more filled out; hopefully it will be a more complete package.
TBM: Did you get any feedback from any of the judges or competitors regarding what you need you work on? Aaron: Yes, after the show two judges approached me with congrats. On the win and I thanked them. Then I asked about improvements. They told me to work on my side poses. So since then I have been working on my poses a good bit. Some advice, pictures don’t lie. I take pictures often to see my progress.
Aaron:I actually was pretty lucky; my training partner Tim Salla is a personal trainer so his help was great. And as far as nutrition, I met another competitive bodybuilder at my gym named Frank Barnes. He has done pretty well competing in OCB contests. So I used his knowledge which seemed to work well with me.
Aaron: No, goals are still the same. Just win. I'm kind of hard on myself. But by winning it just makes you work harder. It's like you don't want to loose that top spot. The more you win the more opportunities come your way.
TBM: What is your current workout? Aaron:
Aaron:Bulking, high carbs moderate protein moderate fats. Cutting, low carbs high protein low but good fats.
TBM: Can you give us an example of what your meals currently look like? Aaron: Fish, chicken or steak, brown rice, and a green vegetable.
Aaron:For me I like BCAA's and I’m pretty big on DHEA.
Aaron: Born in Baltimore Maryland, Moved to Shrewsbury PA, in 2nd grade and been here ever since.
Aaron:Shrewsbury PA
Aaron: Football TBM: At what age did you decide that fitness and bodybuilding were for you, and how long after that did you begin to compete? Aaron: I always have been into fitness. I wanted to compete after I went to Ohio to see the Arnold Classic.
Aaron:I would first have to say my family and my girlfriend Dana. Inspirational influences, Jay Cutler, Phil Heath.
Aaron: It's not for everyone. It takes a lot of time and if you don't have the support at home it’s going to be tough. But I think the only way you will know if it’s for you is to try it.
TBM: What do you think that this industry has to do to become more main streame? Aaron: Can it become more main streamer? I think bodybuilding is on the right track. There are a lot of people making a career out of this sport. I think they should get some of the big shows on TV.
TBM: Aaron,
Aaron: Turn green like the Hulk. haha
