Team OSX Running Club had a another great day on Saturday September 8th after taking home the men's and women's overall victory at the Bottle and Cork 5K Race in Dewey Beach, Delaware. There were 358 runners entered in Bottle and Cork race. A very impressive number considering 508 were entered in the 10 mile race that went off just 10 minutes prior to the start of the 5K.

Team OSX Captain Zach Chupa added another victory to already impressive season as he led the race from start to finish.. Zach's winning time of 16:42 was enough to win over second place finisher John Urban who ran the course in 16:54.

Zach was using this race as a tune up for the upcoming Philadelphia Distance Run on Sunday September 16th in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The half marathon race will feature Zach and other members of Team OSX so keep an eye out and stay tuned for result right here on OSXFitness.com

The biggest victory of the day for Team OSX came when 16 year old Katie Oldham rounded the corner for her final 200 yards and crossed the finish line with an impressive 20:06 edging out Katie Buenaga who ran the course in 20:28.

The 24th over all place and 1st place woman's overall placing gave Katie her first 5K victory ever. Katie also recorded a personal best 5K time beating her old time by over 30 seconds set just 4 short weeks ago. Congratulations Katie.

On a side note, OSXfitness has been working with Katie and her Coach Patrick Castagno of Tatnall in the off season to improve her overall strength. Katie had been sidelined on and off the last 2 years with hip and quad injuries. Katie put in some serious hard work in the off season hitting the gym 5 days a week. She is now able to squat 145 lbs for 8 reps and Bench press 110 lbs. for 8 reps. Her leg press went from 100 lbs to 315 for 8 reps. Not bad considering she only weighs 123 lbs. Who says runners don't need to weight train? We will have more about Katie and the group of runners that OSXFitness worked with in the off-season in the coming weeks.
